After arriving at St Vincents hospital in Sydney John was rushed to theatre for bypass surgery and repair of his mitral valve.

However this was to be only the beginning of his medical journey as he suffered damage to his larynx /   oesophagus during surgery which meant he could no longer swallow food or water.

A peg feed was inserted into his stomach to allow for fluids, nutrition and drugs to be given.

During his hospitalisation John would go on to endure a cardiac arrest and need shocking, developed sepsis, pneumonia and if thats not all he would go on to fall out of bed on several occasions.

Two experienced nurses were sent off to Wagga Wagga and brought him and his wife safely back to the UK without any inflight problems what so ever.
