Once there his temperature had risen to 39.0 c and everyone was worried for his safety.
After initial tests the doctors there diagnosed Sub Acute Bacterial Endocarditis. He was monitored as he was in fast atrial fibrillation and intravenous antibiotics were commenced. Within 4 days his temperature returned to normal and although still in AF his heart rate was now 80-90.
Once the family made contact we were able to send a road ambulance to France to collect our patient and his wife and return them to the UK for ongoing treatment.
